Powwow on Randall's Island (Free)

Happy Indigenous Peoples Day every single day but especially today.

We’re going to spend the day on Randall’s Island in honor of Indigenous Peoples Day.

The photo above is from 2019, my first time there. I met new friends, saw old ones, learned a lot, was moved by all the speakers and spoken word performances. You will be surrounded by indigenous peoples from all over. Every time I’ve gone I’ve felt a whole ass shift in my life. I cannot wait. This is an opportunity to come together with fellow indigenous folks in the name of remembrance, keeping the culture alive and reclaiming all that has always been ours.

There will be a water ceremony on Monday morning. Indigenous peoples from all over the world bring water from their homelands to bring together in honor of peace and it’s really beautiful.

Reclama was there in 2019 and then again in 2021 when they made a comeback but this time with 2 hikers from the community. Shout out to Estef and Isabel!
