First Hike of 2021 at Stairway to Heaven

Stairway to Heaven

If you wanted to start 2021 out in nature starting with this picturesque boardwalk in honor of a new year, then keep reading.

About the trail: (Moderate) The Stairway to Heaven Trail is said to be one of the most beautiful hikes in New Jersey. But what will catch your eye is this magical little walkway that goes through an actual cow pasture. After this relatively easy walkway, we’ll climb up Wawayanda Mountain. So, yes hiking boots are required for his hike as we’ll come across rock scrambles aka the “Stairway to Heaven.” Check this blog out if you want a play by play.

Fun fact: This trail also cuts into the Appalachian Trail where we’ll see a mailbox full of stickers where people leave all kinds of notes and letters for fellow A.T. hikers.

Mood: The first hike of the new year in the tri-state area means it will be cold so please layer up!

Distance: 3 miles

Elevation Gain: 892 feet

Parking: The parking lot is TIGHT. Please get there early. We will meet at the sign for a hiker crossing. Then we can start our hike on the boardwalk.

GPS Coordinates: N41 14.084 W74 28.852 (Please use this to find out how far you are from the hike)

Important updates: If you’ve come to other hikes you know we could be a group of 5 or 25 BUT because Covid-19 (see more updates below), there’ll be no more than 10-12 people per hike to give us ample room to be socially distant.

  • Must wear face masks (and wear them properly)

  • Must stay 6 feet apart

  • Must be in good health

Bring your own snacks and water. I’ll be sending out an email 3 days prior and then the night before all with information on how to prep, what to pack, and more.

Refunds are not available but you can transfer your ticket to someone else. If it rains, the hike will be rescheduled for the following day.
