Catskills Glamping Retreat (Co-Ed Edition)
A co-ed glamping retreat centering women of color and open to all BIPOC, with tents, meals, workshops, and deep rest in the Catskills.
It boosts endorphins, reduces stress and helps keep you present. By allowing ourselves to be unapologetically spiritual in a place like the outdoors, we honor and affirm how we take up space in the world.
The peace you get from being out on a hike naturally leads to personal reflection because your mind is super clear and you’re tapped into your highest self. Writing in this state is a powerful way to connect with yourself and what you want out of life. Once the pen hits the paper, anything is possible.
Spiritual freedom as we unapologetically take up space in nature, self-esteem on point, nature high that lasts about a week, inner peace, remembering who the fuck you are, feeling grounded, deep connection with nature, appreciation for ancestral land a.k.a. Pachamama, self-revelations through journaling, and the sassiness to stand in your power. You’ll always walk away from a hike feeling better than how you came in.
A co-ed glamping retreat centering women of color and open to all BIPOC, with tents, meals, workshops, and deep rest in the Catskills.
A reset for women of color who need a breath, a break, and a little more beauty.
Join us for an easy, soulful walk through Central Park—where we’ll journal under the trees, reflect together, and share a slow sunset moment that reminds us we’re held by something bigger.
This is your invitation to rest, reconnect, and return to yourself.

Ready to see the highest cascading waterfall in New York State?
Never hiked in the Hudson Valley? Now's your chance! In honor of Latinx Heritage Month (Sept 15 - Oct 15), we’re bringing our flags and our pride to Anthony’s Nose trail near Cold Spring, NY. Meaning, get ready to get loud and proud.
Imagine: A perfect blend of adventure and comfort with access to a sauna, bathroom, and a tiny cabin nearby. Plus, a spiritual hike, nature journaling, and a Peruvian sacred ritual.
Ahem, glamping.
We're thrilled to collaborate with Morena Escardó, a holistic health coach, meditation and manifestation expert, and published author. We met through The Peruana Collective a few years ago and have always wanted to work together in some way. Now, we get to honor the land, ourselves, and the magia that comes with collaboration. Plus, we get to camp in a safe setting with access to a tiny cabin. We'll be going on a peaceful hike to journal and work our bodies out.
Meet Morena Escardó: After studying Philosophy in England, and Literature in Spain, she spent a decade working in the publishing industry as a writer, editor, and content creator, before turning her attention to her deepest passions: spirituality and holistic wellbeing.
She's been working as a spiritual mentor for Latinas since 2014, has a meditation practice that spans over two decades, and is currently training with shamans from her native Peru to deepen her connection with nature and healing. During the retreat, she will lead a Despacho ceremony, a beautiful ritual to give thanks and blessings to Pachamama (Mother Earth).
Despacho (Pachamama Blessing): This beautiful ritual uses the principle of ayni (sacred reciprocity), to give thanks and blessings to Pachamama (mother earth), in order to receive those blessings back. The ancient Andean ceremony involves creating a beautiful offering to the Earth, filled with our intentions and gratitude (and delicious foods that we will feed to the fire).
Together in this celebration, we will release what no longer serves us, set intentions for our future, and open ourselves up to receive abundance in all its forms.
Hike Level: (Beginner) Exact location and details will be sent to those who register. But essentially, the hike will be easy and more about connecting with the earth and journaling with ease.
Here we are at a past retreat grounding our feet into the earth.

Time for winter warriors to come out and face the winter head on. You’ll be hiking with other like-minded women of color, all in the name of self-love!
This will be our first hike of 2024.
UPDATE: The weather is feeling WAY more like fall so I put a photo above of the kind of gear we were wearing for our last fall hike last year. Weather hasn’t felt like winter but expect 40 degrees or so.
Benefits: While I love the concept of Valentine's Day, or even Galentine's Day, I believe the most important and urgent kind of love is self-love. We will get into modalities, mindsets, shared experiences, thoughtful tips and more on reclaiming that deep love for ourselves on the hike.
More on Self-Love: It's a journey I've been for a decade after leaving a long-term relationship that wasn't working out. I still remember how that was one of the hardest decisions I had to make. I started to question my own worth because if I really loved myself why would I let someone treat me the way they did. It felt like then or never to walk away and figure out who I really was so I could love that person as soon as possible.
What got me out of bed then was that I had this dream of living on my own, finding a job I loved, traveling with friends and creating a community business. It was most definitely a process but I made all the things I wanted happen for myself and I'm so grateful I did or else Reclama would've never come to be. Every February (we turn 6 this year!) I am reminded of the possibilities despite the current situation, heartache or lack of funds. Todo es posible!
Mood: Adventurous considering it’s a winter hike but it will be worth it. This is how you reclaim your morning, this is how you reset yourself this month. It will not be as cold as past winter hikes. It will feel more like fall but still chilly so definitely layer up. There will be lots of time to chill and hug a tree.
Type: (Beginner/Moderate) This hiking trail is in New Jersey (near the GWB) along the Hudson River, mostly flat, and about 3 miles. Super chill.
GPS Coordinates: Exact location will be disclosed via email.

1:00 PM - 2:00PM: Hike back

What you pack: Bring your own snacks and water. I’ll be sending out an email 3 days prior and then the night before all with information on how to prep, what to pack, and where exactly we will be meeting.

Ready to scream off a mountain together? Let’s welcome fall with a little releasing and resetting.
Intention: To honor transitioning into a new season and how we work with that energy. Plus, the fall foliage doesn’t hurt either. Look forward to a Grounding Meditation, Earthing, a Guided Spiritual Hike, an energetic cleanse with Sage and/or Palo Santo and a Guided Journaling Session.
About the hike: (Moderate at first, then intermediate) We’re headed to Anthony’s Nose trail near Cold Spring, NY where you’ll also be able to hike a section of the Appalachian Trail. If you’ve looking for a hike with a bit of a challenge, then this might do the trick. The first section of the hike is the steep 500-foot rock staircase (takes about 20-30 minutes to go up), then the trail levels out leading to the overlook with the epic views where we will take a break to rehydrate, meditate and journal before heading back. If you aren’t sure about the rock staircase, check out the photo below and/or you can read a play by play here.
Hike level: If you usually workout, you'll be okay. If you don't at all, you will huff and puff a bit but it's only the first 30 minutes. Then, it's super chill.
Distance: 2.6 miles
Space: 9 spots left
Look forward to:
Grounding meditation
Earthing
Guided Spiritual Hike
Energetic cleanse with Sage and/or Palo Santo
Guided Journaling Session
Sharing circle
Materials provided:
Reclama Journal
Gel feather pen
Healthy snacks
Catered lunch (with veggie options as well)
Herbal tea
Public Transportation: If you're coming from NYC, you can take the Metro North train from Grand Central to Cortlandt via the Hudson Line. From there, it is about a 10-minute ride to the trailhead. If you're not down for the walk, you can easily book an Uber or Lyft. I’ll email the exact meetup spot 3 days prior.
Another transportation option: A shuttle is available for $89 RT with our partners at Outerthere. Fits up to 10 and will take you directly to the trail and back. Check out this link to book your shuttle.
Bathrooms: Only on the trains and in Cold Spring. There aren’t any at the trailhead or on the way. So we can find a spot and then the group can help cover you with our backs turned. We’ve done so in the past and you would be surprised how fast like-minded women come through for one another in nature. I also carry a bathroom kit for all the hikers so no need to pack that. I got you.

Because when was the last time you made intentional time to be in nature?
We’ll be having our first kid’s hike (ages 5-9) on October 29! Dressing up (as a fairy?) is optional but encouraged! The hike is very easy, half a mile, and full of fairy homes along the way!
Spring Equinox is about renewal, resetting and reconnecting with nature as we start to come out of our cozy winter nooks. And back by popular demand is our favorite hiking spot at the Palisades Interstate Park.
Tis’ the season to fall back in love with yourself.
This is going to be a special one-day retreat in honor of our guest author Lorraine Monteagut, PhD. She’s written a much needed book coming out this fall (October 5th) that ya girl is grateful to have been included in called BRUJAS: The Magic and Power of Witches of Color .
There will be hiking, journaling, tea, food, energy cleansing, book reading and signing, Q&A with the author, and a chance to have a seriously open conversation on what it means to be a bruja. Join us.
You can read the opening chapter, right here. And here’s a Q&A with the author from Ofrenda Magazine.
Location: The Palisades Interstate Park in New Jersey (right under the George Washington Bridge) Exact location will be emailed to you a week before the retreat
About the book:
There is a new kind of witch emerging in our cultural consciousness: the bruja.
Witchcraft has made a comeback in popular culture, especially among feminists. There is a growing subculture of younger witches, led by Afro-Latinx immigrants and indigenous Americans, who are taking up the label to reconnect to their spiritual roots, practice healing arts, and express their politics.
Brujas chronicles the magical lives of these practitioners as they extend their personal rituals to larger self-care and activist movements and use their services to empower young people of color. The bruja represents the new “witch” of the United States, a practitioner who melds ancient tradition with new technologies and mirrors the diversity and activist spirit of today’s youth.
Brujas reminds us that witchcraft is more than a trend—it’s a movement.

We all have significant women in our life.
As noted in Women Who Run with the Wolves, we honor our many mothers who mold different elements of our identity. For some of us that can be our mother, our sister, a friend, a mentor, a teacher, a neighbor etc. We have multiple madres who feed our minds, our bodies, and our souls. This is the opportunity to grab that special woman in your life and bring her to our sacred hiking circle.
She is the chief goddess in charge of Mari Vega LLC, a lifestyle brand encouraging women to tap into their intuition to cultivate joy. As an author and podcaster, she strives to give a voice to the raw, vulnerable, truths of self-healing work. Her platform serves as a creative outlet for her own healing journey. Her personal and professional experiences evoke a deep sense of advocacy to voice the vulnerabilities of womanhood and motherhood. Some would call her a Reiki practitioner offering creative healing to align your body, mind & soul, others call her magic! To learn more visit marivega.me.

If you were called to this Spring Equinox Retreat it’s probably because you’re in need of a spiritual reset and you know the power of healing in community, nature and journaling.
You’re also a woman of color who wants to be surrounded by mountains because it makes it easier to tune into your intuition and receive messages from your ancestors. But most of all, you understand the power of disconnecting to connect.
Well, welcome, because Reclama has a special weekend planned.
On Friday, we’re going to balance our root chakras with a lil’ dancing with Ecuadorian-Lithuanian producer, DJ, and cultural activist based in Brooklyn DJ Riobamba doing a live set on Friday night for us.
So rock that outfit you’ve been dying to wear because it makes you feel whole and beautiful. Make sure you’re also super comfy because you’ll be dancing en buena compania. The party will begin early to ensure that we get to sleep early enough for our hike the next day. If the weather is right, we might be able to take the dance party outside. Vamos a ver.
(Raise your hand if the thought of dancing is already making you happy because you know the power of music, er, twerking in resistance.)
On Saturday, we’ll stretch and meditate (outside if it’s not too chilly) or if not in the living room with the fireplace then have a delicious breakfast and coffee made by yours truly. When it comes to breakfast, I got you. There will be fresh dulce de leche pastries, coffee/tea, juice, fruit, eggs, peanut better/jelly and toast. By then, I’ll be heating up our tamales, made by local Mexican chef Jen Maxine, for the hike so bring your appetite. I’ll email you to vote on which flavors we should choose! For our Spring Equinox Hike, we’ll be hiking the Giant Ledge trail, a moderate hike about 3 miles long described as a “short hike with little effort to see the best views in the Catskills.”

After our hike, we’ll come back to the house where we’ll decompress, take a hot shower and really rest. Take a nap if you want. As long as you’re ready by 6pm so we can set an intention for the Spring season with plantitas, crystals and, of course, the almighty journal. We’ll have a catered dinner by the grill, hopefully in time for sunset, where we can sip on a little wine and toast to a new season feeling a closer to our selves. Then, we’ll end the night for one final burning ritual by the firepit and head back inside for tea/hot cocoa to wind down with a witchy movie porque why not.
Then, you’ll probably go to sleep earlier than anticipated on Saturday evening because of our hike that day but then that means you’ll wake up on Sunday feeling hella refreshed and that’s exactly how you’ll want to feel on your way back, complete with your plantita, crystals and goodie bag.
Because we’re still in a pandemic, I've made an important note below on what it means when you agree to come on this super special Spring Equinox Retreat. It’s all in the name of safety.
Please read until the end por favor.

Seeing as this was such a hit in February, I’m scheduling another for this March. Same spot, different New Moon. Again, I’ll be packing hot hibiscus tea for us. We’ll watch the sunrise over the New York skyline view from the Jersey side and then head out for a moderate hike down by the Hudson River.
About the trail: (Moderate) The trail starts off from the top and then we’ll work our way down the Palisades where we’ll see the Peanut Leap Cascade. The steps can be a bit steep so please note, this hike is not for beginners. You must have recent experience hiking, hiking boots and a flash light or headlamp. If the snow is too icy, we’ll stick to a flatter trailer instead.
Mood: Adventurous considering it’s an early hike but it will be worth it. This is how you reclaim your morning, this is how you reset yourself this month.
