7 Journal Prompts to Help You Reclaim Your Relationship With Winter

Happy Winter Solstice!

Spending time outside in the winter, once a very unpopular concept, has become a staple in my spiritual self-care routine. This transformation began in 2017 during a cross-country road trip, and today, it's an integral part of Reclama's mission where healing out in nature doesn’t stop when winter hits.

Embracing the winter doesn’t mean we should power up and operate the same way this season like we would in the fall or summer. Quite the opposite actually. Nature doesn’t bloom all year round and yet she still thrives. Make peace with the stillness. Every season has a reason.

  1. Winter Vibras: What feelings pop up when you think back to that first moment with the cold? Take note of what comes up with curiosity and compassion.

  2. Reframing Perspectives: What do you need to go from reluctance to appreciation? How might we get you outside this season?

  3. Sacred Solitude: How would a snow-covered trail on a sunny winter day help you reconnect with yourself?

  4. Ceremony and Ritual: How can winter hikes become a form of ceremony or ritual, giving you room to reflect and express yourself?

  5. Practice Reciprocity: It’s realizing that the more you give to nature, the more it gives back. How has this principle played out in other parts of your life?

  6. Trauma in Motion: If trauma lives in the body, then your healing must include movement. Take note of what comes up when you’re outside for a walk.

  7. Reclaim Your Confidence: Imagine the boost of confidence when you do the thing you thought was beyond your reach. How can that energy fuel other parts of your life this winter?
